Bathing Baby Tips

Let’s talk all things bathing your baby: do’s, don’ts, needs, and don’t needs.

Newborn Needs and Do’s:

  • bath system: Moby sling, lotus flower pillow, or anything to help hold them above water

  • tear free shampoo/soap

  • towel: hooded or not (hooded are my absolute fav)

  • must make sure the water is very lukewarm

    • this may feel cold to you, so a temperature reading dinosaur or other toy might be helpful to make sure it isn’t too hot.

Newborn DON’t's:

  • Don’t bathe their skin more than needed

  • Try to bathe when they are already overtired

Newborn Things to Remember:

  • Very easily overstimulated

  • Very fragile skin and eyes

  • Try to keeps baths very short

  • Will most likely pee or poop in the bath or right after (all over you :))

  • Can play some quiet relaxing music to help keep environment calm

  • Take pictures - these moments don’t last long
