Before Baby
Navigating the waves of anticipation and preparation before your bundle of joy arrives can be as daunting as it is delightful. Let's dive into the heart of this transformative phase and offer some practical advice but also connect with the emotional whirlwind of expectant mothers.
Embrace the Emotions
You’ve been praying and hoping for this day or you’ve never even considered this day would or could come. Here you are reading the directions on a pink box and trying to figure out how the heck to pee on a stick and not your hand. How many seconds? Did it work? Did I do it right? Then you set your timer for the longest 60 seconds you’ve probably experienced in your life so far…3, 2, 1, beep. You look, you don’t want to be disappointed, you try to see if there really is or isn’t a second line or plus sign or the word pregnant (could they make this anymore confusing??). After all of that you see it. The second line or the plus sign or the word pregnant. Oof. Here we go.
The first double pink lines I saw filled my heart with joy for the new, grief for the ending of pre-motherhood life (I know we aren’t supposed to even think this thought but here we are #honestmommovement), worry that I have no idea what the heck to do with a baby let alone be pregnant, and basically every other single emotion on the planet.
Now, to tell the dad. Well maybe you’ve been planning for this day for years or months or maybe you definitely were not - either way for me once I say something out loud only then does it become the real truth.
“I’m/we’re pregnant.”
How did you tell your baby daddy?
Me, I gave him the book Dad’s Guide to Pregnancy for Dummies (still has never been read to this day - 3 babies later)
You? Tell us in the comments!!
(I’ll also link the book if you think it would benefit your baby daddy)
